WHO WE ARE

Left Coast Sports Academy (LCSA) is an athletic/sports development program designed to be more personal than recreational and more flexible than traditional club programs. LCSA elevates athletes to become successful, well-rounded players who understand the true value of playing. In our year-round programs for ages two and up, including adult basketball programming, we meet each individual athlete’s needs. Your child will develop a love of athletics while discovering the athlete from within. This is achieved in a safe, nurturing, and inspiring environment.

OUR PHILOSOPHY

Athletics is critical in promoting the importance of teamwork, effort, setting and attaining goals, leadership, humility, and commitment. Left Coast Sports Academy is a competitive/development program, and while winning is nice, it’s not the primary objective. Left Coast Sports Academy is NOT a Club Program. Instead, we focus on participation, playing time, and sportsmanship!

Sportsmanship, as we define it, is respecting your opponent, referees, coaches, and other families. It’s important to remember your opponent is just that, your opponent, and not your enemy, regardless of the event's outcome.

STUDENT ATHLETE REQUIREMENTS
All athletes must:
Be present at games. However, if the athlete is absent, please contact their coach or the league.
Demonstrate behavior that will reflect positively on the team, school, community, their family, and most importantly, themselves.
Demonstrate responsible, respectful, trustworthy behavior to teammates, opponents, referees, and coaches.
Comply with all team/organization regulations and policies.
Respect all decisions made by the coach and athletic staff.
Display good sportsmanship at all times.
Conduct themselves with dignity. The use of profanity is strictly prohibited. Making fun of any person will not be allowed or tolerated.
Wish opponents good luck before and congratulate them after the game, regardless of the outcome.

PARENT'S CODE OF CONDUCT
Parents will:

Provide positive support, care, and encouragement for their child.
Encourage good sportsmanship by demonstrating positive support for all players, coaches, and officials at every game and practice.
Place their child's emotional and physical well-being ahead of a personal desire to win.
Support coaches working with their child in order to encourage a positive and enjoyable experience.
NOT advise the coach on how to do their job or where to place their child.
Remember that the game is for the kids – NOT ADULTS – and that participation in Left Coast Sports Academy is a privilege, not a right.
NOT coach their child during the game. (Conflicting information will confuse the athletes.)
Ask their child to treat other players, coaches, fans, and officials with respect.
NOT make insulting comments to players, parents, officials, or coaches of either team. If they have an issue, they may share it with the Coach, Supervising Director, Administrator, or Commissioner and have them handle the situation.
Support the team placement of their child -- oh, we said that already!!

LEAVING EARLY/ ABSENCES/ TARDINESS

Please communicate with us IN ADVANCE if your child cannot make a game, needs to leave early, or will be late to a game. It is important that we are notified AHEAD OF TIME to make proper adjustments for the team.

ATHLETIC PROBATION

An athlete may be put on probation for any action deemed unsportsmanlike.

COMMUNICATION WITH COACHES

Parents and fans MAY NOT address concerns with coaches before, during, or immediately after a game or practice. Coaches have many responsibilities, including supervision of all players. Also, this period is often emotionally charged and not conducive to a productive discussion. If a parent needs to communicate a concern, the parent should contact the coach and/or league commissioner.
